Meeting Update Minutes Meeting at ABA 2000 Thanks to Richard D. Weissman, Ph.D. for taking notes at the meeting! The year 2000 VB SIG meeting took place at ABA in Washington D.C. on Saturday, May 27th. The meeting seemed to go well, with about 30-40 people attending. The following items were covered: A. Dues will remain at $10 for full members and $2 for student members. B. The balance in our account is $404.62 (to be updated with the 2000 year dues) C. Matt Normand agreed to be program chair for VG SIG to work in conjunction with Mark Sundberg - to facilitate VB submissions to the ABA conference. D. The possibility of putting on a mini-conference either at ABA (similar to SQAB) or as a stand-alone conference was discussed. Bill Potter approached Maria Malott about this, she suggested submitting a proposal. E. The possibility of putting on a student research competition was discussed. All were in favor of such a competition, with details to be decided. Amoy Hugh Balter agreed to be on that committee, along with Bill Roth (student representative) and Tom Critchfield said he would function as a consultant for the project. F. Various ideas were discussed for generating cross-disciplinary contacts, including inviting various nonbehavioral folks to submit to TAVB or to present at ABA. No specific plans were made. G. It was suggested that a VB SIG membership directory be created. The membership passed this resolution, but implementation to be decided. H. A job directory, or posting of jobs emphasizing skills in teaching verbal behavior was suggested. It will be posted in the VB newsletter as well as on the website, and possibly elsewhere. Gina Bennett agreed to help with that effort and possibly be the coordinator. I. Richard D. Weissman noted that he would be willing to put together a chat room for business meetings.
