Assessment of Student Learning Advisory Committee
to the University Educational Policies Committee
 
Committee Membership and Charge
 
Membership and Term of Office. The Assessment of Student Learning Advisory Committee shall be composed of five voting faculty members. Members with two-year terms, staggered by lot, are specified as follows:
 
Two faculty members from the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences
One faculty member from the College of Business Administration
One faculty member from the College of Education
One representative from the University Educational Policies Committee
One student representative
 
Ex-officio membership:
Coordinator for Assessment of Student Learning
Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Charge. The Assessment of Student Learning Advisory Committee shall work in an advisory capacity with the Coordinator of Student Assessment in determining the extent and type of assessment initiatives to be supported. The responsibilities of the Assessment of Student Learning Advisory Committee, as formulated by the UEPC, are as follows:

  1. Make recommendations to UEPC regarding the mission and scope of assessment plans to promote  and improve student learning, and implementation of these plans into the University’s academic programs.
  1. Assist the coordinator of Student Assessment in identifying programmatic needs and promoting means to fulfill these needs.
  2. Consult with, and make recommendations to, the UEPC regarding assessment policy and procedures
  3. Establish meeting dates by semester, to be published to the campus community. Make recommendations to UEPC concerning resources.
  4. Submit agendas and meeting minutes to the Recording Secretary of the UEPC. Transmit all agendas and meeting minutes to the campus community via electronic networks.
  5. Maintain close working relationship with the Academic Program Review Subcommittee of the UEPC.
  6. Submit an annual year-end report to UEPC, to include a summary of the year’s events and recommendations for follow up actions.
