Mission
The Master of Arts program in psychology is designed (1) to prepare
students for advanced graduate work, or (2) for those students who
desire a research oriented program. Students work closely with faculty
within a particular area of Psychology to develop graduate level
competency In the principles and methods of that area. Be advised that
this degree program does not lead to licensure or certification.
Unique features
The Masters of Arts program allows students to complete
individualized programs in a variety of areas, including learning, human
development, social psychology, and behavior analysis. Although some
students elect a general program, sampling across topics and
psychological domains, most choose a program focused on one area of
psychology. Through advisement students complete a set of courses and
field work experiences that prepare them for advanced work related to
that area.
In this program students have the unique opportunity to partner with
faculty in new and ongoing research programs. Because of the
apprenticeship nature of the program, students are expected to have
selected a faculty mentor prior to making application to the program.
