Prerequisites for the M.S. Counseling Psychology Degree*
- Bachelors ddegree in Psychology,
or a Bachelors degree in another
discipline with completion of a course in Introductory
Psychology and a minimum of 16
upper-division semester units in psychology with a grade of
B- or better with course content
acceptable to the Psychology Graduate
Committee.
- Undergraduate coursework (each with a grade of B or better) in:
- Psychological Testing
- Research Methods
- Abnormal Psychology
- Counseling Theory
- Counseling Techniques
- Human Development
- A minimum
undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Satisfactory performance on the Graduate Record Examination
(GRE) general test, which includes the GRE Analytical Writing
Section.
*These are suggested minimum scores, but admittance in the program
is decided on a combination of these factors in addition to experience,
personal statements, reference letters and interviews.
The two-step written application process
Application is a two-step process with separate application forms for
each step:
- Complete an application to California State University,
Stanislaus.
CSU

- Complete the application the California State University,
Stanislaus Psychology Department Masters Program. Our
department application is available for download, you will need

Note: Eligible students can be admitted to the California State
University, Stanislaus without being admitted to the Psychology Masters
Program. This status is called Post-Baccalaureate and allows students to
enroll and complete University courses at both the undergraduate and
graduate level. This status us often used by students completing
prerequisite courses for the program.
