After the October 2, the group lab meeting is 2:30-3:28pm on Mondays only in room 234 of the Classroom Building.  All other lab work will be done in the Animal Care Facility at the individually arranged times.

Welcome to the Learning and Motivation Laboratory!

The function of the Laboratory in Learning and Motivation is to provide experiential training in basic learning principles involving single subject research designs and operant methodology. Students will design and conduct a learning experiment with an animal subject, evaluate and report their results.

Prerequisites:

Students must have passed Psyc 3700 or be currently enrolled in Psyc 3700 to take this lab. It is assumed that all students have a background in Psychology research methods from previous courses like Psyc 2020 and Psyc 3000.

Laboratory Activities:
  1. Review of single-subject experimental research design, graphic data displays and interpretive strategies.
  2. Master an experimental procedure for studying a research problem with pigeons in a computer-controlled laboratory.
  3. Design and conduct an experiment with a pigeon and the computer-controlled equipment in the lab.
