Sierra Vista foster family agency is one of the many outreach programs of the Sierra Vista Children's Center. The Sierra Vista Children's Center is a private non-profit agency that specializes in the mental health treatment and education of emotionally disturbed children and their families that was founded in 1972 for the Stanislaus county. A further function of the program is to provide the families with professional assistance and support throughout the community. This professional help includes an assortment of licensed clinical psychologists, pediatricians, child psychiatrists, educational consultant, licensed clinical social workers, mental health therapists, along with M.F.C.C.'s (marriage, family, child councilors). The program itself as a whole is accredited by the California Association of Services for Children.

Sierra Vista children's centers stated mission is to provide therapeutic, social and educational services for young children and their families to enable or maintain positive family systems. There are eight outreach programs that assist in holding true to their stated mission. One program is the residential treatment homes. There are four of these 24 hour group homes that are designed to address the children's psychiatric problems and stabilize acute symptomatic behavior. Another program offered is the Kirk Baucher School. This school is a small non-public school that helps meet the educational and mental health needs of children in the grade's kindergarten through eighth. A part of each child's program is counseling services that cover the individuals, group, or family treatment and activities. A further support measure for the families is the ADHD clinic that provides assessments and treatments for children diagnosed with ADHD. Families of the children in this program receive support that includes family education and counseling. Home based services are also available for children who are at high risk for out-of-home placement. Along with the above mentioned programs are community outreach services that offer workshops and training sessions, parent support programs, and the treatment foster family program.
