The Application Process

  1. Meet prerequisites for the M.S. Psychology Program with a Concentration in Behavior Analysis
  2. Complete applications to both California State University, Stanislaus and the CSUS Psychology Department
  3. Complete an admission interview with faculty



Prerequisites for the M.S. Psychology Degree with a Concentration in Behavior Analysis*

  1. Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  2. Undergraduate coursework (each with a grade of B or better) in:
    • Learning or Behavior Analysis
    • Research Methods
    • Abnormal Psychology
    • Counseling Theory
    • Counseling Techniques
    • Human Development
  3. Minimum GRE scores above 3.0 on the writing test
  4. Prior knowledge or training in behavior analysis

*These are suggested minimum scores, but admittance in the program is decided on a combination of these factors in addition to experience, personal statements, reference letters and interviews.




The two-step written application process

Application is a two-step process with separate application forms for each step:

  1. Complete an application to California State University, Stanislaus. CSU Mentor provides a method for applying for all CSU campuses online. You can obtain a printed version of the university graduate application by contacting the Admissions and Records office at (209) 667-3070.
  2. Complete the application the California State University, Stanislaus Psychology Department Masters Program. Our department application is available for download, you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader to view or print the file. You can obtain a printed version of the Department of Psychology graduate application by contacting our office at (209) 667-3386.

Note: Eligible students can be admitted to the California State University, Stanislaus without being admitted to the Psychology Masters Program in Behavior Analysis. This status is call Post-Baccalaureate and allows students to enroll and complete University courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. This status us often used by students completing prerequisite courses for the program.
